The University of Iowa Trademark Licensing Department released The University of Iowa Trademark Licensing Program Brand Standards (Brand Standards) in August of 2012. Within this manual is a collection of artwork that is referred to as the “Old School Collection.” This collection contains timeless University of Iowa logos.

Definition

Iowa Athletics has a rich history and tradition of classic symbols and logos. They are very loved by Hawkeye fans and alumni and thus, tremendously important to The University of Iowa brand. This collection of logos is so cherished that it has been preserved in the Iowa “Old School Collection.” It should be noted that there are more “Old School Collection” logos and artwork than what is provided in the Brand Standards. Only the most popular have been included in this initial offering. The University of Iowa Trademark Licensing Department reserves the right to further develop and define the “Old School Collection.”

It is important to know that the “Old School Collection” marks are primarily for retail and decorative use and are never to be used as identifying marks. The Tigerhawk marks are always to be used as the primary brand identifiers for Iowa Athletics.

The marks found in the “Old School Collection” are highly restricted and reserved for special distribution channels and users. Use of these logos requires a separate application process before access to this artwork can be obtained.
